Rene Umana is a junior at Bentley University, majoring in Finance with a focus on Public Policy. Originally from Honduras, Rene has a deep interest in global affairs, sustainability, and international development. Through a variety of academic and professional experiences, Rene has developed a passion for contributing to positive change in the world. Rene co-founded Agrolacta Solutions, a company that provides innovative solutions for rural dairy farmers in Honduras by improving milk preservation and reducing spoilage, making a significant impact on local communities. His interest in sustainable development was further cultivated during an internship with the United Nations in Honduras, where he authored numerous briefings, coordinated high-profile events, and contributed to strategic discussions around the Sustainable Development Goals. In addition to his entrepreneurial and policy work, Rene has demonstrated leadership in advocating for climate change awareness and food security through his involvement with Slow Food Honduras. His commitment to fostering inclusive and equitable environments is also reflected in his participation in Bentley’s Rainbow Scholars program, where he collaborated on workshops promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion. Rene is excited to leverage his diverse international experiences, including his work in finance, sustainability, and global policy, to continue making an impact. He looks forward to contributing his skills and knowledge to future opportunities that align with his passion for sustainability and international development.
