Sulekha Hussein
Education Intern

Sulekha Hussein is a sophomore at the University of Massachusetts-Boston with a double major in International Relations and Management, with a concentration in International Management. She resides in Quincy, Massachusetts but her family is originally from Somaliland (an Independent State of Somalia). Sulekha is passionate about equal justice and has much experience in leadership-activism work. She first volunteered at the ‘Be the Bridge Youth’ program at her local library where she and her fellow leaders facilitated group work to collaborate with young middle school students to both educate and openly speak about prevalent issues in our world today such as inequality or racism. Her leadership skills continued to carry her through college as a Vice Chancellor Student Leadership Committee member and Office Assistant at UMass Boston Center for Academic Excellence Center. She’s excited to work with the United Nations Associations of Greater Boston Education Department to participate in the Model UN organization to help educate the next generation on global issues. Through the incredible experiences Sulekha has endured, she hopes to have a career in advocating on social justice issues and continuing in educating/managing organizations to further support/acknowledge more leading issues that our society faces (such as racism, sexism, etc).
