Daniel O’Connor
Director of Programs

Dan is a foreign affairs and global development professional dedicated to empowering young people and advancing civic education. As Director of Programs at UNAGB, Dan oversees the coordination, execution, and continuous improvement of all UNAGB programs.

With roots in Boston, Dan’s career has taken him from embassy boardrooms in Asia to rural health clinics in Africa, where he’s helped build partnerships, led capacity strengthening efforts for global NGOs, and delivered impact under pressure. Whether advising governments, supporting local entrepreneurs, or working with students, Dan brings a people-first approach to solving complex challenges. Dan led transformative localization projects for USAID across Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East; managed Fulbright programming for global scholars in New England; and launched the inaugural fellowship program in Asia-Pacific for the Barack Obama Foundation. He previously lived in Myanmar for three years working in experiential education.

Dan holds a Master’s degree from The Fletcher School at Tufts University in International Law, and bachelor’s degrees in Economics and German from Skidmore College. He is a contributing author to The Diplomat and currently serves on the Advisory Board of Soccer Without Borders Boston.

Dan lives with his wife and son in Massachusetts.
