Event Details

The Middle School Model UN Conference is a traditional General Assembly style conference open to students in grades 6-8. This conference, held in collaboration with the International Relations Council at Northeastern University, is the largest middle school MUN conference in New England.

10/25/23 Update: Registration for this conference has CLOSED! We have reached our capacity for this event and cannot accept any new registrations. We encourage you to click here to learn more about our other upcoming conferences.

This is a traditional General Assembly style conference in which students receive a committee and country assignment. Students spend the months prior to the conference researching, learning, and preparing their position papers and opening speeches.

Below is a brief Q & A to help you learn a little more about the event:

What is the topic? There will be 5 topics at this conference: Creating Sustainable Solutions to Support Climate Migrants; Disease Control In Humanitarian Emergencies; Eliminating Childhood Poverty; Promoting Access to Affordable, Reliable, Sustainable, and Modern Energy for All; Reducing Food Waste. There will also be a UN Security Council Committee offered at this conference. The topic of this committee will be Creating Sustainable Solutions to Support Climate Refugees.

Will students participate in pairs? Yes!

When will delegates find out their countries? Advisors will receive country and committee assignments for their delegation 2 months prior to the conference.

Are there position papers? Yes – please stay tuned for more on this. Position papers should be submitted two weeks prior to the conference to allow our team of chairs ample time to thoughtfully read through them all.

My school doesn’t have a Model UN team, but I’d like to attend…are independent teams invited? Yes! Independent teams and independent delegates are welcome to attend. Parent advisors welcome!

What is the cost of registration? The cost of attendance is $65/delegate, as well as a $100 team fee. If you attend a Title 1 qualifying school you may request a reduced delegate fee of $25/delegate.

What is the refund policy? All payment is due by the final delegate count deadline. Delegate refunds will not be provided after the final delegate count due date.
