Event Details

The Middle School Model UN Conference is a traditional General Assembly style conference open to students in grades 6-8. This conference, held in collaboration with the International Relations Council at Northeastern University, is the largest middle school MUN conference in New England.

This is a traditional General Assembly style conference in which students receive a committee and country assignment. Students spend the months prior to the conference researching, learning, and preparing their position papers and opening speeches.

Below is a brief Q & A to help you learn a little more about the event:

What is the topic? Get excited to discuss topics such as the Paris Climate Agreement and Protecting Endangered Animals! The full topic list, including our UN Security Council topic, will be released in the coming weeks.

Will students participate in pairs? Yes!

When will delegates find out their countries? Advisors will receive country and committee assignments for their delegation 2 months prior to the conference.

Are there position papers? Yes – please stay tuned for more on this. Position papers should be submitted two weeks prior to the conference to allow our team of chairs ample time to thoughtfully read through them all.

My school doesn’t have a Model UN team, but I’d like to attend…are independent teams invited? Yes! Independent teams and independent delegates are welcome to attend. Parent advisors welcome!

What is the cost of registration? The cost of attendance is $75/delegate, as well as a $100 team fee. If you attend a school serving a significant number (33% or higher) of low income students, you may request a reduced delegate fee of $29/delegate.

What is the refund policy? Delegate refunds will not be provided after payment due date.
