Event Details
Join Women’s Forum @ UNAGB at Hostelling International for an evening focused on women’s issues in Africa and the world. A follow up to our #BringBackourGirls symposium discussion earlier this year, we will go more in depth on how women in government are affecting the political, social, and economic development in their country.
The event will include a screening of the short documentary film Dreams for Nigeria followed by a round-table discussion about women in politics and power positions.
Professor Valentine M. Moghadam, Director of International Programs and Professor of Sociology at Northeastern University, will join us after the screening for a discussion of the importance of women in politics.
Professor Moghadam, born in Tehran, Iran, received her higher education in Canada and the United States. She received her Ph.D. in Sociology from The American University in Washington D.C. Her areas of research include globalization, transnational feminist networks, civil society and citizenship, and gender and development in the Middle East and North Africa.
