United Nations Day
For over 25 years, UNAGB has organized a UN Day event to gather leaders across Boston’s business, education, diplomatic, and civic communities to elevate the role of local action in tackling global issues and reaffirm the importance of peace, prosperity, human rights, and justice for all. More so now than at any other time since 1945, every community must be engaged to find long-term, sustainable solutions to the difficult challenges that humanity faces.

Program: Global Cooperation in 2024 and Beyond
The world is at a pivotal point in its history. Progress towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has slowed or even reversed in many countries, and global conflicts are becoming increasingly intractable. Sadly, individuals’ belief in their ability to create solutions to these challenges remains low. Without a renewed focus on bridging local communities with global issues, the hard-won development work of the past few decades is at risk.

Join us as we mark the 79th anniversary of the UN Charter entry into force, exploring the opportunities and challenges presented by a multilateral approach to addressing global challenges. With consular diplomats, nonprofit leaders, university leaders, and committeed global citizens in attendance, there is an unquestionable opportunity to forge new connections that will drive a dynamic year of action here in Boston.

Venue: Norton’s Woods Conference Center at The American Academy of Arts and Sciences
Located in the heart of Cambridge and footsteps from Harvard Square lies the American Academy of Arts & Sciences. The Academy was founded in 1780 by John Adams, John Hancock, and other patriots with the mission to “honor excellence and convene leaders from every field of human endeavor to examine new ideas, address issues of importance to the nation and the world, and work together.”

Every year since 1790, the Academy welcomes another class of fellows and the acceptance letters of prestigious fellows hang throughout the building. There will be ample time for guests to read through these inspiring pieces of living history.
