United Nations Day marks the anniversary of the entry into force of the UN Charter in 1945. It is celebrated around the world, recognizing the importance of the global body dedicated to peace, prosperity, and justice.
Since 2000, the United Nations Association of Greater Boston has organized a UN Day Luncheon to celebrate the UN’s accomplishments and indispensable work by engaging high-level policy-makers, members of the business community, and academic leaders around a critical global issue.
In 2018, we highlight the topic of Leadership in a Digital Age and consider the question “How can we educate and empower leaders for a world where accurate and secure information is both critical and threatened?” Timothy Edgar, former national security and intelligence official, cyber security expert, and Senior Fellow at the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs at Brown University, will be the featured speaker.
The luncheon will also launch the year-long development of UNAGB’s Model UN curriculum on cybersecurity. This curriculum will be used by middle and high school students at Model UN conferences, as in-school units of study, and at UNAGB’s Summer Institute in Global Leadership.
Thank you for your support of the 2018 UN Day Luncheon. We look forward to the opportunity to reaffirm the importance of the UN’s leadership at the time of its founding and for the challenges of the future.
