Ailish O’Brien
Education Intern

Ailish is a rising junior at Bowdoin College from Boston, Massachusetts. She is double majoring in Government and Legal Studies with a concentration in International Relations and Environmental Studies. Her passion for human rights and social justice began at Boston Latin School, where she took a course called Facing History that studies Genocide and injustice. Last summer, she interned at the Middlesex County District Attorney’s office in the Child Protection Unit, where she learned about children’s rights in the American legal system. She also worked with Bowdoin’s Office of Gender Violence Prevention and Education to complete a community-outreach capstone project, engaging in women’s rights work as well as public health policy relating to gender violence.  Her interest in International Relations is centered on international security and counterterrorism, and she plans to pursue further studies in this field post-graduation. Ailish is excited to be a part of the UNAGB team, and cannot wait to learn and interact with passionate, globally-minded young people.
