Become a Student Ambassador

The United Nations Association of Greater Boston serves the community of the greater Boston area through educational and public programs to promote dialogue on the work of the United Nations. The UNA-GB seeks motivated, engaged students at area colleges and universities to serve as Student Ambassadors with its newly-launched Student Ambassador Program.

________________________________________________________________________________________________

Overview

The Student Ambassador program will establish one UNA-GB Student Ambassador at each local college or university who will serve as a liaison and direct line of communication between the UNA-GB and the college campus. This student’s duties will include hosting a campus event in honor of United Nations Day, organizing one additional event during the academic year related to the work of the United Nations, and maintaining a blog, listserv, or on-campus wiki. More information is included in the application.

Eligibility

Interested candidates should be creative, independent, and able to devote 2-5 hours per week (on average) to the program. They may have some experience working with a United Nations-related activity or demonstrate interest for the UN through their academic, work, and campus involvement.

Benefits

Student Ambassadors will benefit from mentoring by UNA-GB staff, as well as the opportunity to further develop leadership skills. In addition, they will receive free tickets to two UNA-GB events, benefit from potential career networking with the Young Professionals for International Cooperation, and may have opportunities for workshops with international organizations and non-profits connected with UNA-GB events. At the end of the year, a book award will be given to the Student Ambassador who demonstrates the most success within the program.

Applicants should be currently enrolled undergraduate students in universities in the Greater Boston area.
